North Glos Oddfellows' donation to Air Ambulance Charity

North Gloucestershire District Oddfellows has donated £1,000 to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, continuing its long-running support for the lifesaving service.

Representatives from the local friendship group recently visited the charity's newly refurbished operational base at Strensham to present the donation and learn more about how the service responds to critical emergencies across the region.

During the visit, members met air ambulance crew members, toured the facilities and saw one of the helicopters used to provide advanced pre-hospital emergency care to patients across Gloucestershire and the wider Midlands.

Vital support

The £1,000 donation will help support the charity's fleet of helicopters and critical care cars, as well as specialist medical equipment and highly trained crews.

Alex Walker, Development Officer for North Gloucestershire District Oddfellows, said: "We are incredibly proud to continue supporting Midlands Air Ambulance Charity with this £1,000 donation.

"Over the years, we have developed a real appreciation for the outstanding work carried out by their crews and the difference they make to people and families across our communities.

"Visiting the newly refurbished Strensham base and meeting the crew brought home just how important this service is. Seeing the helicopter up close and learning more about the charity's operations gave us an even greater understanding of the skill, commitment and resources required to save lives every day.

"As a community-based organisation, we believe in supporting organisations that have a direct impact on the communities around us, and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is a fantastic example of this."

Relies entirely on donations

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity relies entirely on donations to fund its operations and attends thousands of incidents every year, bringing hospital-level emergency care directly to patients at the scene of accidents and medical emergencies.

"We are extremely grateful for the continued support from North Gloucestershire District Oddfellows. Long-term partnerships with local organisations play a crucial role in helping us deliver our lifesaving service.

"Donations such as this £1,000 contribution help ensure that we can continue to provide rapid emergency care to those who need us most."

Community-focused

The latest donation reflects North Gloucestershire District Oddfellows' ongoing commitment to supporting local charities and giving back to the communities it serves.

In addition to charitable giving, North Gloucestershire District Oddfellows hosts a range of affordable and accessible events in Gloucestershire and surrounding areas, which are open to all. It has around 400 local members, most of whom are older adults.

The friendship group also organises around 60 online events every month which are free and open to anyone, including a monthly member-hosted online open day where people can find out more about the organisation.

Oddfellows members can access a variety of benefits including care and welfare support. There are also opportunities for group travel and to take part in fundraising and volunteering.
