Derby Oddfellows head for the hills

Updated: 10 Apr 2024

Fancy a walking weekend away? Derby members fill us in on their annual rambling trip to the Lake District.

Fourteen Oddfellows from Derby District recently enjoyed a weekend away, walking amongst the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District.

Using the Windermere Hotel for their accommodation and base, the group enjoyed walks which took in a number of well-known local landmarks including the Aria Falls, Borrowdale, Wray Castle and of course, Lake Windermere itself.

The Lake District walking weekend has become something of a regular outing for Oddfellows from the Derby District. This is the sixth year the annual event has been staged. In addition, the group head away for a second walking weekend every year to Wales.

Derby District also stages walks closer to home on a fortnightly basis. These walks continue to attract new walkers of all abilities and recently included a ramble across Stanton Moor in the Peak District.
