Back by popular demand, come and hear from local historian Jenny Collis, author of ‘Knutsford, Our Streets Through Time’ tell us all about the ‘correction house’ as it was officially known in Knutsford. Come and learn about the people who were detained in Knutsford Prison, and some of the punishments meted out to them, find out about the escapees and the eight men who were hung there. Finally how the prison was re-purposed during World War I and when it finally closed and was demolished.

Followed by at approx 3pm, the Reverend Paul Deakin, Vicar of St Cross Church has very kindly offered us a little tour of the Grade II listed Church today as well. The present church was built between 1880 and 1881, with the tower finished in 1887 and completed in 1889. Two of its stained glass windows were designed by Sir Edward Burne Jones, who worked with as a founding partner with William Morris.
