This sessions given by Chris Weir will look at the role of herbs through many years of history.  They were used for many different purposes and their healing powers led to the establishment in 1617 of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries.  Herbs  have been used to fight the plague and many other illnesses and herbalists have been a key part of our High Streets for many years.  John Boot, the father of Jesse Boot was described as a medical botanist in the 1851 census that listed the family when it was on Woolpack Lane in Nottingham.  Find out more in this session at Fishergate Point.  Following the talk we will have the option to have a snack at Fisher Gate Point.
