Cost: £7.00 Castle Tour. Lunch price as per menu

Lancaster Castle is one of the most historically fascinating surviving buildings in the country. Dating back to Roman times, the castle has witnessed scenes of significant cultural and political importance, including the Lancashire Witch Trials. Until 2011 it was a fully functioning HM Prison and today it is a magnificent 'living' monument, offering a glimpse into England's often dark past. Join us as we take a guided tour of this ancient castle.

Afterwards, enjoy lunch at the Merchants 1688, the Castle Hill pub set inside 17th-century wine cellars. Serving the finest food in a warm and relaxed setting, it is the perfect way to end our visit to Historic Lancaster.

Please note that the tour route is not suitable for wheelchairs and visitors should be aware that the tour includes several flights of stairs and occasional small spaces. We anticipate that this trip will be very popular so please do contact Fiona or Gillian to book your space.
