Scadbury Moated Manor Open Day

History

History, Walks | Nationwide event hosted by Pride of Kent Branch

Sunday 14 September 2025 at 2.00pm

Cost: You may wish to donate to OAS via their collection boxes at the site.

Bookable | Deadline: 11/09/2025

Following our walk in April to the site, we are returning on an annual open day to see the archaeological excavations and Tudor foundations at Scadbury Moated Manor.  We can follow a self-guided trail around the moated manor site with experts to answer questions.  We will see the archaeological excavations and the foundations of the Tudor kitchens and great hall, showing how these would have been used when the house was owned by the Walsingham family.  Visitors can also see World War II defences and a restored shepherd’s hut.  Meet at the corner entrance to the park at Perry Street and Old Perry Street, opposite Beaverwood Road.  The manor house ia a mile walk away.  Orpington Archaeological Society (OAS) volunteers will direct you.  Buses 160, 269 and 463 stop nearby.  No parking at site but street parking available.
