A short history of Highgate Village and a pub visit

History

History, Talks & Demos, Food & Drink, Shopping | Nationwide event hosted by North London District Branch

Monday 16 December 2024 at 11.00am

Bookable | Deadline: 09/12/2024

Highgate Village originated as the medieval tollgate to the Bishop of London's deer park.   It has had, and still does have, some very famous residents, and some extraordinary buildings. Pond Square is the heart of the Village and celebrates Christmas with an annual tree in the middle.  This short walk will surround the square and take in three of Highgate's famous pubs - each with a story to tell.  Pay for your own drinks.  Contact Jackie at least a week in advance if you would like to join her.  (This walk will go ahead subject to enough interest.)  Meet inside the Gatehouse pub at 11am.  Photo by oxyman and file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic licence.
