We've a wealth of knowledge about statutory organisations, charities and volunteer groups that we can share with you.

Whether it’s a quick question about one of our membership care benefits, or a request to help guide you through today’s complex and ever-changing health and care landscape – our experienced and friendly Care and Welfare team is ready to take your call.

Receiving help and advice through the Oddfellows’ confidential Care and Welfare Helpline is a membership benefit from day one.

It’s an 0800 number, so free to call from a landline or mobile. It operates 9.30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.30am to 4pm on Friday. An answerphone service is available outside of these hours and, rest assured, all messages will be replied to the next working day.

Where can I find the Care and Welfare Helpline number?

It’s a member-only number which can be found on your membership card or in your Member Handbook. Members can also access it by signing in to the  Members’ Area or by calling our Membership team or their Branch.

How can the helpline help?

If you’ve any questions concerning your welfare or general wellbeing, or you need help on how to access health and care services, then get in touch.

These are areas in which our Care and Welfare team typically offers help:

  • Health services – we can help you understand how national and local health systems work and how you can access the care you may need, such as getting help at home or special equipment following an illness or hospital stay, NHS Continuing Healthcare or how to raise a complaint.

  • Social care and housing – we can help you to access social services assessments, understand how financial assessments and personal budgets work, as well as support you if you have problems to resolve. We can also point you in the right direction if you’re needing to adapt your home following an illness or disability, or looking at sheltered housing, care or nursing home options.

  • Carers’ support – we can simply be a friendly, listening ear, or show you where you can get extra support – so you can look after yourself better, and those you care for.

  • Later life planning and managing your affairs – we can provide information and guidance on putting financial and personal welfare Lasting Power of Attorneys in place, making a will and other areas you may wish to consider, such as Advance Statements or ‘living wills’.

We also have an Oddfellows Citizens Advice Line

We’ve two dedicated advisors from the specialist, national advice provider Citizens Advice who are ready to take your call on over 15,000 subjects, such as managing debt, housing or tax issues, welfare benefit entitlements, consumer or family problems.
