Hastings in Wartime
Talks & Demos, Food & Drink | Tunbridge Wells District Branch
Saturday 30 January 2027 at 12.30pm
Bookable
| Deadline: 22/01/2027
Join the Bexhill Branch to welcome Ken Brooks to the Albatross Club. Like other towns on the south coast, Hastings was in the 'front line' during the Second World War. Barbed wire was placed along the seafront in preparation for a German invasion, and St. Clement's Caves were used as air raid shelters during the bombing raids. But despite the terrible conditions, people managed to cope - often with the traditional British sense of humour. Whether for a trip down memory lane or to answer some questions, this talk will reveal Hastings as it was in WW2. Refreshments will be provided.
Please note that booking is essential. Email Solveig to book your place Solveig.Stanhope@oddfellows.co.uk or ring 07443 926944.
