**Online** Bahne Bonnisken and his Karussel

Talks-Demos

Talks & Demos | Coventry Godiva District Branch

Tuesday 13 January 2026 at 7.30pm

Bahne Bonnisken was an Anglo Danish watchmaker who settled in Coventry in the 1880s. His revolutionary watch mechanism overcame the inaccuracies in the conventional mechanical pocket watch and his marketing strategy enabled many more finishers to economically produce a high quality item.

The mechanism was also incorporated into marine chronometers which led to improved accuracy in navigation.

The talk covers his life, his contribution to horology, his setting up of the watch and clock makers guild and the revival of his mechanism in high end watches.

The talk will be delivered by Alan Handley and Dr Robert Nash, both keen, well-travelled and published horologists
