Coal Gas to Concorde - The Race Across The Atlantic (1844-1939)

Join us to welcome back Peter Griffiths to the Tunbridge Wells Constitutional Club. From the earliest attempts by balloon, via Alcott and Brown, Lindbergh, flying boats, the early jets, to Concorde, countries have striven to be the first or the fastest to cross the Atlantic. Peter's talk encompasses the triumphs and the disasters of Atlantic flight. Inflight-refuelling, piggy-back flights, the Hindenburg, the Comet, to the race for supersonic flight. Refreshments will be provided.
