Come along for some fresh air and beautiful views on the ‘Bronte Walk" from Hathersage. We will meet outside the George Hotel, Main Road Hope Valley S32 1BB. This is a 4 mile walk from Hathersage up past North Lees Hall ("Thornfield" in the Jane Eyre novel) then along below Stanage Edge and down via Moorseats Hall (home of St John Rivers in the novel) to Hathersage Church (Eyre tombs and Old Vicarage where Charlotte Bronte stayed before finishing novel, plus Little John's grave) then back down into the village, we can have food and/or drink in the Little John Inn before returning home.
For train passengers from Chesterfield take the 9.45 to Sheffield and change on to Hope Valley/Manchester train arriving 10.32 at Hathersage, or via bus to Sheffield and 272 from Sheffield at 9.40 arriving Hathersage 10.21. For car drivers; park in Oddfellows Road Car Park (pay and display) or in the George Hotel car park (pay £1 in hotel for token to exit). Book by 13th March.
