Merry Christmas from the Oddfellows

A message from Jane Nelson, CEO.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of one of the UK’s most caring and welcoming communities — as ever we rely on people like yourselves in order for our Society to continue to thrive as it does.

The Oddfellows has had the same aims as it did when the organisation was founded back in 1810 — to improve the lives of our members and people in the surrounding areas of our Branches.

Christmas is such a special occasion for so many people, when we give ourselves time to take stock of what’s important. Loved ones, from friends to family, are brought closer to us as well as extending our arms to neighbours and strangers alike. We focus on the ties that bind, rather than any differences there may be.

Over the last 12 months our Branches have hosted thousands of events across the country that have retained the spirit of Christmas. Whether in spring, summer, or autumn, we have placed the focus on love, compassion, and understanding in a bid to ensure that even when Santa Claus’ annual visit is still half a year away, people never feel forgotten. None of which would be possible without our loyal members.

The Oddfellows is one of many organisations addressing the ongoing issue of loneliness in our communities and we pride ourselves on being a key player for change. Together we can make a big difference to those who may be feeling low, for whatever reason, at this point in the calendar— which, while largely seen as a happy celebration for most, can be very much the opposite for others who may be less fortunate when it comes to their own support network.

Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.

Yours in festive friendship,

Jane Nelson
