All for a good cause (or eleven!)

Oddfellows from Poole and Bournemouth Branches present donation cheques to not one, not two, but eleven different charities and causes.

The cheques were the result of various fundraising initiatives and events staged by both Branches over the last year.

Each cheque had a value of between £100 and £200.

The different, and equally worthy, recipients ranged from the Alzheimer’s Society and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance to Autism Wessex and Poole based children’s hospice, Julia’s House.

All of the recipients were chosen because they have personal significance to Branch members who were also keen to support organisations which help people across the full age spectrum.

Representatives from the different charities attended the evening to receive their cheques, express their thanks and to give a short talk about how the money would be used.

Past Society Chairman (Past Grand Master) Ron Munro also attended to receive cheques for the Oddfellows’ Orphan Gift Fund and H A Andrews Memorial Fund.

Speaking of the evening, Andrew Hampton, Secretary of Brownsea Branch in Poole, said: “The donations were a great way of saying thank you to just some of the charitable organisations who work so hard for our local community.”

Margaret White, Secretary of the Pride of Bournemouth Branch, added: “As a friendly society, we want people to live life at their happiest and healthiest. Fundraising for important causes is just one of the ways we can help to make that happen.”

A huge well done to everyone involved!
