The Hyde Park building was moved to the high point of Sydenham on the outskirts of London. Paxton devised a grand plan to rival the Palace of Versailles, terracing the steeply sloped site of 200 acres. A huge workforce erected an enlarged Palace that dominated the landscape. The Crystal Palace had become a place of wonder and education. The second in a series of three presentations by Michael Gilbert.
