Oswestry is a friendly and traditional market town situated in north west Shropshire and is almost surrounded by Wales. You will be free to visit Oswestry market and wander around the award winning independent shops, pubs and cafes or follow the town trail to Cae Glas Park and look out for the sculpture of Wilfred Owen and Oswald’s Well.
For the train enthusiasts take a short walk to the Cambrian Heritage Railways & Museum with heritage trains running daily, restored signal box, period ticket office, waiting room and shop to support the railway to explore. Heritage trains operate using Steam, Vintage Diesel or Diesel Multiple Units and operate between Oswestry and Weston Wharf, the journey takes you through the suburbs of Oswestry and onward to views of open fields before arrival at Weston Wharf 1 3/4 miles to the south.
Facilities at Weston Wharf include a period waiting room, toilets, “Snacks on Tracks” cafe, picnic area and displays of railway artifacts. You can also chose to explore the local Morda valley area with its rich industrial heritage or visit the adjacent Stonehouse Brewery.
