Talks & Demos, History | Nationwide event hosted by North London District Branch

Friday 28 November 2025 at 2.00pm

The Crystal Palace was surrounded by 200 acres of parkland.  Laid out to rival Versailles, Joseph Paxton’s landscape included lakes, cascades and thousands of fountains and featured life-sized models of prehistoric animals as a backdrop to grand events.  It also became home to national events including the FA Cup final and even the birth of television.  The Crystal Palace was destroyed by fire on 30 November 1936.  Today the future of the site is still under debate.

The third in a series of three presentations by Michael Gilbert.  Visit www.zoom.us and add Meeting ID 910 7968 6020 and Passcode 1810 or email paul.fitton@oddfellows.co.uk for a direct link.
